My group have finished the glog project in April, we did the presentation in the class then. Now I'm going to talk about its content: She is a beautiful fashion lady we found in Macy's, she told us about her pop culture when she was a teenage in 1970s. There were famous Woodstocks music fesival, the trend of flower power and Hippies. More important is, we heard about her opinion of pop-culture: she thinks pop culture define a generation. each generation have their own pop culture. On the other hand, we will grow completely by learning both high culture and pop culture.

[Movie] We Were Soldiers

We all know Vietnam War -- that was a harsh battle in Cold War period. There are at least million peoples dead. "We Were Soldiers" is exactly talk about one of the bloody battle -- Battle of la Drang. Hal Moore brings his man to land in Ia Drang valley (as they call as Valley of Death). When they just step their feet on the place, they discover that they are surround by 2000 soldiers of North Vietnam troops... If you are a typical war film lover, certainly you are recomanded. But one thing you need to know is, this is not only a war film. By the way, it has strong anti-war idea, just pay more attention on its theme song, and you will get what I mean.

Techology - Internet is essential

I always avoid to imagine someday I can't use internet anymore. I almost use internet everyday, internet is indivisible in my life. I have a blog on Xanga, I write my daily feeling and my idea on the blog. I often staying on Facebook, so I can continue the date with my friends on internet. I always pace on BBS site, I can get any information I want. Internet is so convenient for people's life, you can know everything on the world without travel outside--this is how I do it. Someone, especially the senior, may say I'm addicted in this fake live. This is misunderstanding, maybe they don't know how internet important to our world.

Reading - Do I Look Like Public Enemy No.1?

This is an article written by Lorraine Ali who is Arabic-American. The article is talking about the discrimination faced by writer. I think this is a serious category. In simple, it's about racial discrimination. In depth, it's a conflict between two different culture and values. Although I don't study a lot in this, I think in this conflict, both two sides have responsibilities. Some radical groups should stop their terroristic activities, also Western peoples should pay more respect to other different culture and values even they disapprove. If we can all begin with respecting others, I think peace is not hopeless.

[Music] Stereopony

"I LOVE THEM!!" I always tell my friends like this! Stereopony is a Japanese rock band who originated from Okinawa since 2007. Why I love them is because their dynamic, infectiously music, and they're sooo charming! They caught my attention when I incidental watch their music video. Both of the girls do a great instrumental play. Especially the guitar and vocal: Aimi, I totally fascinated by her voice and her skill of guitar playing. More important is, they are almost the same age as me! So they were only about 17 when their first debut, and they've got plenty fans till now. I think they're really awesome~

Culture Idendities

I thinnk Hong Kong can totally represent my culture identity. As the name of "international city" of Hong Kong, she includes both East and West. "Culture of Hong Kong" means the culture mixture of Eastern (Mainly Chinese and other East-Asian culture) and Western. For example Hong Kong follows British education system. People call "bus" or "taxi" by transliteration directly. Bitish afternoon tea translated in Hong Kong-style which named as "Pantyhose milk tea". So, my identity is Hong Kong-style: international

Pop Culture

Pop Culture influence my daily life a lot. I can never live without internet, music, movie or comic. In fact, you can find every elements of pop culture in my life: When I go out I usually bring my iPod, enjoy my favorite music on the way. Love to wearing jeans and T-shirts 'cause they're popular, good-look and convenient. Love chating and sharing daily interesting experience with friends on Facebook and Xanga. Discuzzing soccer match and World Cup on MSN. More important is, I'll get crazy if I can't read comic!

Since I take this Pop Culture class, I do care and understand more about the American pop culture. Before this, I didn't interested in American pop culture but the Hollywood movie. I thought Hip Hop is strange music. I thought American eat McDonalds everyday. I thought American love to say "shxt/damx/WTF" (mostly influenced by Hollywood movies..LOL). Now I know Rap is a kind of Funky music. I understand many American dislike McDonalds love Subway. I discover Amercian who actually very nice and polite.(In fact I've known this before the class.. well, it's alright~)

In conclude is, this class change my impression about American culture.
